Before 1945 our country prospered greatly, we had the highest standard of living ever known and a steadily growing production of wealth for distribution. Even in the depression days, our people on relief lived better than three quarters of the world had ever lived. We determined our own foreign policy and were respected for our strength.

In 1945 occurred our greatest disaster, we allowed secret communists and their dupes to get us to join the United Nations. We agreed that we should have only one vote therein, but Russia should have three votes besides casting other votes in the names of her satellite slave states. We agreed that while the civilian offices should rotate among the different nations, a communist Russian should always have command of the United Nation’s military department. We surrendered to this communist conceived monster, the power to determine our own destiny. We have only one vote out of far more than one hundred members.

It is time to ask ourselves these questions. (1) What has membership in this organization done for us and to us? (2)(3) Can we reconcile this with our duty as Christians? What does Yahweh say of this?

The United Nations has made us pay an appalling toll in expense, dishonor and death. It has not prevented war, multiple wars have raged in many places during most of its history. It has no substantial military force but our own. We pay not only our own costs, but also a large part of the military expenses of most other nations. We even paid about two billion dollars for the Red army of Yugoslavia. We paid nearly all the cost of the Korean war, which was more costly year for year than World War II. We also paid the entire cost of the tragically insufficient defense of Indochina.

Though we are only one out of far more than one hundred members, we pay far over one third of the United Nation’s expenses. Finally we are learning that we can’t buy friends, like you buy carrots or bananas, we don’t have one reliable ally among them. When we organized the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, we weren’t allowed to include Nationalist China, South Korea or Japan. Not because the Red Chinese objected, but because England and France wouldn’t let us! To support this miserable mess, we pay more in taxes than all the rest of the world combined, including even the communist block. For what purpose do we saddle this ruinous burden upon our people?

Dishonor? Yes! We no longer chart our own independent course, with due regard to our national honor and interests. We always sacrifice both upon the altar of a false democracy of our enemies. We come, bowing humbly, to ask of the Congo, India, Ghana, Indonesia, Poland and Russia, What will you permit us to do, what do you command us to do? We pledge ourselves in advance, to abide by their orders, however detrimental to our rights and honor it may be. We have often declared we will never use our veto power on anything. The result, the United Nations, under its communist military director, compelled us to lose the Korean war, though we had the power to win it, for the purpose of making us lose face in Asia.

Venezuelans spit on our Vice President, while their police enjoyed his humiliation. Castro steals our citizen’s property, makes an open alliance with Red China and Russia, then Castro sets up rocket bases for them threatening our east coast. Castro also set up supply bases for Russian submarines for the time when they will block our Panama Canal. What do we do about this? We take it lying down, because the United Nations will not give us permission to defend ourselves, how they love to watch our humiliation!

Death! Yes! In the Korean war, the other members of the United Nations supplied only token forces. Outside of the Koreans themselves we lost 98.5% of the casualties on our side. Red China still holds 900 of our men prisoners. In this war officially run as a United Nations operation, we were required to make frequent reports to the Red Russian head of its military department. We had to show the strength of our forces, where they were and our own plans and strategy. Do you wonder that the Reds usually knew where to hit our weak spots?

If we had studied our Bible before getting into this death trap, we would have seen Yahweh’s warning to stay out of it in the first place. Yahweh always warned us to stay out of leagues with pagan nations. “So shall we be separated, I and thy people from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”

Exodus 33:16: “... so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.”

Isaiah 30:15: “... Your safety lies in ceasing to make leagues, your strength is quiet faith” (Moffatt translation).

II Corinthians 6:14-15, 17: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Yahshua with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore, come out from among them and be ye separate, saith Yahweh, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you and ye shall be My sons and My daughters, saith Yahweh the Almighty.”

2,600 years ago, through the prophet Isaiah, Yahweh proclaimed the futility of the United Nations. He warned us not to enter into this confederacy of nations saying in Isaiah 8:9-14: “Associate yourselves, O ye people and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for Yahweh is with us. For Yahweh spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not a confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, a confederacy, neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify Yahweh of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear and let Him be your dread. And He shall be for a sanctuary ...”

Isn’t this a perfect picture of the United Nations, so well defined as organized futility? “Take counsel together and it shall come to naught: speak the word and it shall not stand.” That is exactly what has happened.

What will be the final end of this nest of alien spies in our land? If we had any American self respect left, we would expel it. Unfortunately, we have lost our self respect. So, the Bible prophecies destruction of the United Nations at Yahweh’s hands, it identifies the United Nations headquarters as the palace of strangers. Isaiah 25:1-5 reads, “O Yahweh, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise Thy name: for Thou hast done wonderful things; Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. For Thou hast made of a city an heap of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. Therefore shall the strong people glorify Thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear Thee. For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud ...”

Note carefully those words. To us, Yahweh will be a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall, our defense against the atom bombs. To the palace of strangers Yahweh says, “Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud.” The shadow of a cloud gives coolness, except in one instance. When it is the mushroom cloud of an atomic or hydrogen bomb, then it is the heat with the shadow of a cloud. Thankfully, we have the wonderful promise: “... it shall come to naught ... it shall not stand ...”

Critical note by Clifton A. Emahiser: It is my evaluation of Comparet’s presentation here that he has properly identified Old Testament prophecy foretelling the formation of the United Nations of our day and the building housing that organization. Surely Comparet was correct when he said in his Binding The Strong Man, that “It was written then to be read now”. However, I believe that Comparet, at the end of this theme, mistakenly reads “an atomic or hydrogen bomb” into Isaiah 25:1-5, which I feel is not there. An atomic or hydrogen bomb is only destructive in nature and would hardly qualify as “a shadow” of protection. On the other hand, Yahweh has a fire that burns downward rather than upward, and both natural fire and the fire from an atomic or hydrogen bomb burns only upward. Not only that, but Yahweh’s fire can be both destructive or protective in nature as the pillar of fire and pillar of cloud were when Israel came out of Egypt and traveled through the wilderness. Yahweh’s fire is described at 1 Kings 18:38: “Then the fire of Yahweh fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.” Notice that Yahweh’s fire fell rather than burning upward. Therefore, there would be no deterrent to prevent Yahweh’s fire from falling down on the U.N. building in New York City and reducing all of that stone, concrete and steel to a small pile of ashes! A hydrogen bomb would be mild in comparison, and the surrounding buildings would not receive so much as a scratch or a blister. Another example of fire burning downward is found at 2 Kings 1:9-14, of which I will only cite verse 10: “And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.” This happened twice, and the captain of the third group of fifty begged for mercy that it wouldn’t befall him and his fifty. There are many places in Scripture that alludes to this type of Yahweh’s fire and is manifested in sundry forms.
